Titration is the process used for determining the unknown strength of acids or bases. Titration is also important for determining the unknown concentration of an analyte (may be a pollutant as well) by using another reagent.

Titration means adding small amounts to measure something. If you have a solution of acid e.g. hydrogen chloride HCl and you want to know the concentration (molarity, how acid it is) you can take a known volume, add an indicator (a compound that is a different colour in acid or base such as litmus – from red cabbage!) and titrate (add very slowly) a base (e.g. sodium hydroxide NaOH) until the indicator shows a change from acid to base. then as you now the volume and concentration of your base you can work out the concentration of your acid.

      Hope this helps

It’s a type of experiment used to work out the unknown concentration of something
